It's been a tumultuous summer for both Aston Villa and Manchester City. The Villains have had to deal with the on/off saga of Gareth Barry's potential move to Liverpool and the shocking injury sustained by Wilfred Bouma. Nevertheless Martin O' Neill has shown his usual acumen in the transfer market and Steve Sidwell should be hungry for regular first team football whilst Brad Friedel is one of the best goalkeepers in the Premier League. City have once again reverted to "crisis club" with doubts surrounding Dr Thaksin Shinawatra's commitment to the club and big-signing Jo will miss the start of the season due to his involvement with Brazil at the Olympic Games in Beijing.
