If Dimitar Berbatov wanted a quiet game to ease himself into life with Manchester United this is most certainly not it. English football’s bitterest rivalry sees champions Manchester United brave the fury of The Kop having won 1-0 on their last two visits. Liverpool have a shockingly bad record against their big rivals under Rafael Benitez - and they’ll have to win this one without star men Steven Gerrard and Fernando Torres. The England midfielder is still recovering from a groin operation, while “El Nino” has a hamstring problem. This is a real setback for the Reds, but you can bet they won’t surrender quietly in the first really big shootout of the Premier League season.
