Lukas Podolski of Germany Celebrates with Michael Ballack (GettyImages)

German fans claim that the current team under Joachim Low is a better side than the one that lost in the semi-finals on home soil to Italy in the 2006 World Cup. Germany have a distinguished record in this tournament and should go far with Michael Ballack and Miroslav Klose almost guaranteeing goals. They have also been placed in a fairly easy looking group and are one of the favorites to reclaim the trophy they won in 1996. Poland could be a surprise of the tournament; they are ably led by veteran Leo Beenhaker and are a difficult team to score against. Goalkeeper Artur Boruc is probably their best known player and they have an abundance of quality custodians.
