Mark Hughes will take his side to Switzerland for two games at the start of Manchester City's preparations for the new Premier League season. Before facing Super League champions Basel, City face Lucerne in what could also be Brazilian striker Jo's first game for the club. Despite sacking Sven Goran-Eriksson last summer, the blue half of Manchester had a much-improved season and can even look forward to European football thanks to entry via the Fair play league table. Sparky Hughes may have much work to do, but he can count on a solid backline with Joe Hart, Richard Dunne and Micah Richards and the pre-season games should give him an opportunity to try out new players in midfield and up front.
