The Viola host Claudio Ranieri's Juve side on the opening day of the Serie A season in what is likely to be a heated encounter. There is no love lost between these two teams and in particular Fiorentina will be eager to inflict a defeat on the Old Lady. Both clubs will be looking to see if they can do better than last season as they finished 3rd and 4th thereby gaining positions in the Champions League this season. For Fiorentina much will rest on the shoulders of Adrian Mutu but the club have done well simply to hold on to their Romanian striker. Juve will be satisfied that they finished third last season in what was their first campaign back in the top flight, for Claudio Ranieri's sake they now need to challenge for the Scudetto.
