With the SPL just days away from starting and the Premier League just over a week away this should be a useful pre-season friendly for both Gordon Strachan and Mark Hughes to assess the current state of their respective squads. Celtic have returned from the Feyenoord Jubilee Tournament in which they lost 2-0 to Spurs but they did beat the hosts Feyenoord 3-1 thanks to goals from Giorgios Samaras and two from the wonderfully named Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink. City have already played in the UEFA Cup qualifying rounds and on Saturday drew 2-2 with Stockport with goals from Valeri Bojinov and Ched Evans.
