Roy Keane takes his new-look Sunderland side back to his home country of the Republic of Ireland as part of their preparations for a second consecutive season of Premier League football. Keane and Sunderland have strong links with the Republic as will be illustrated by this five-day tour. The Mackems just completed a tour of Portugal in which they beat Sporting Lisbon 3-1 and then drew with Vitoria Setubal. Keane has been busy so far securing deals for former Spurs players Teemu Tainio and Pascal Chimbonda and two more players from the North London club in Younes Kaboul and Steed Malbranque are also expected to make the same journey.
