The John Deere Classic opens at the TPC Deere Run in Illinois this July, and as the last chance at exemption for those not yet qualifying for the British Open major the following week, the competition looks set to be fierce. This year, a trans-Atlantic jet has been chartered to fly contestants directly to the Royal Birkdale, which has guaranteed the presence of big PGA Tour names on the field, such as Zach Johnson, Todd Hamilton, Sean O’Hair, Johnson Wagner and Boo Weekley. Last year's winner Jonathan Byrd earnt himself $738,000 and a place at Scotland's Carnoustie Golf Links with his fateful one-stroke victory.
