The Formula 1 French Grand Prix is the oldest Grand Prix race, first run on June 26, 1906 and takes place on the Circuit de Nevers Magny-Cours. The track consists of 70 laps and is 4.41 km (2.74 mi) in length. In 2004 Michael Schumacher of Germany set a lap record with a time of 1:15.377 The Circuit however is not popular with many Formula 1 competitors today due to its remote location, and the event has an uncertain future.
