South Africa celebrates during the IRB 2007 Rugby World Cup final match between South Africa and England (gettyimages.com)
South Africa claimed their second Rugby World Cup crown by defeating England 15-6 in what was an exhilarating Rugby World Cup Final. It had all the elements of a Rugby World Cup Final and featured spectacular defence and brutal forward play. The match saw Percy Montgomery and Johnny Wilkinson going head-to-head in kicking for posts, but at the end of the day the boot of Montgomery tipped the scales in South Africa’s favour. The South Africans had a disciplined performance in their defence and stole some good ball from the English line-outs. The English took the match to the South Africans with strong forward play and sweeping backline moves. England came close in scoring shortly after half-time in Mark Cueto, but the touch judge ruled that he had stepped out. The William Webb-Ellis trophy returns to South Africa again, but the English can hold their heads high as they fought bravely in defense of their World Cup crown. Live Online.
