The inaugural opening to this Tier III WTA event took place in 2007 to much success. Now in its second year, the Gastein Ladies tournament is expected to be even bigger this year. The competitors will battle it out under the hot July sun on red clay courts in Bad Gastein, Austria. Francesca Schiavone of Italy made history when she became the first winner ever with her victory over Austria's own Yvonne Meusburger in last years final match.
