This will be a classic battle between two traditional tennis powerhouses. The Russia Fed Cup team has owned this competition over the past five years, with victories in 2004, 2005 and 2007. Spain first competed in the Fed Cup in 1972 and has won five times. The Spaniards are in the role of the underdog, but they will have the support of the crowd. Russia is led by the experienced Svetlana Kuznetsova, who is currently the fourth ranked player in the world.
